de Havilland Hornet Moth DH.87B (52.5″) – Additional Wood Pack
De Havilland DH.87B Hornet Moth – Sport Scale RC Biplane Plan & Parts Our Additional Wood Pack contains most of the sheet and strip balsa, ply and spruce needed to complete your Hornet Moth build alongside the plan and Laser Cut Wood Pack. As we only supply wood in standard stock sizes (not offcuts), a small number of additional purchases may occasionally be needed to finish the model. Please note that an Additional Wood Pack and Laser Cut Wood Pack together do not constitute a full kit in the conventional sense. Graham McAllister’s DH.87B Hornet Moth is a stunning sport scale RC biplane inspired by the iconic 1930s de Havilland cabin tourer. Featured across two issues of RCM&E magazine (June & July 2026), this is a rewarding traditional build that delivers genuine scale character without demanding complexity. With a 52.5″ (1340mm) wingspan and 41″ (1040mm) length, the model uses conventional balsa and lite ply construction throughout, covered in heat shrink film. The distinctive two-piece angled fuselage, glazed cabin windows, interplane struts and scale undercarriage all faithfully capture the charm of the full-size aircraft. Designed as a three-channel model (rudder, elevator, throttle), it flies with the relaxed manners of a vintage RC model — capable of gentle wing-overs, low fly-bys and even a loop, yet easy enough for pilots looking for a rewarding weekend flyer. The spacious cabin interior has room for a carved pilot, passenger, seats and luggage — ideal for adding scale detail over time.
